Select Board appoints Popat to Board of Assessors; approves $6M water project loan

Mansfield Select Board appoints CPA Vijay Popat to Board of Assessors through December 2027. Chair Walter Wilk, Vice-Chair Michael Feck, Clerk Kostas Loukas, members Brendan Roche and Maureen R. Doherty voted unanimously 5-0.
The Board also unanimously approved a $5,995,999 interim loan note to the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust for the Dustin Prescott Well project and referred proposed zoning bylaw amendments restricting data centers to the Planning Board for public hearings. Town Manager James Reinke announced health insurance budgeting has been revised to a nine percent increase instead of eighteen percent, yielding $900,000 in savings and reducing the projected budget shortfall to $4.1 million. Reinke warned residents of fraudulent emails impersonating the town and soliciting wire transfers.
