Mansfield Select Board Approves Alcohol License for Butter Dream

Mansfield Select Board approves liquor license for new downtown bakery-restaurant Butter Dream. Attorney Ken Rice told the board owners Peter and Phyllis Kuplast paid about $300,000 for the former Firehouse 17 building and are financing $3.7 million in construction with no outside investors, projecting roughly 40 new jobs. Board member Mark recused himself, saying, "I work for Toast, and you guys are a Toast customer." The board also voted 5-0 to open a special town meeting warrant closing September 28 and set the fall town meeting for November 12 at 7 p.m.

It adopted Select Board and town manager goals, including a Town Hall, library and Council on Aging facilities review, and approved roughly $7.5 million in school and town payroll warrants. A resident raised concerns about license-plate-reader cameras being mistaken for private "Flock" surveillance systems.
