Mansfield Conservation Commission clears six wetlands items after sharp septic debate. Legacy Engineering's Dan American presented a land disturbance permit for Faceoff Holdings LLC's five-home compound on 27.6 acres off Gilbert Street, disturbing about six acres while cutting neighbor-bound stormwater runoff by 20 percent; commissioners approved it 4-0 but forwarded septic-geology concerns to the Planning Board. One commissioner, who described himself as a geologist, warned the site's "ground moraine" soils could cause the consolidated leaching field to fail over time, saying "the problem is the testing method is inadequate to answer the question." Town Engineer Rick Alves won a 4-0 negative determination for a roughly 10,400-foot Gilbert Street water main and drainage overhaul, replacing a break-prone six-inch main with 10,600 feet of new pipe starting next spring.
The commission also approved certificates of compliance for MSS Two Realty, the Bonwood Company and a Cobbler Road pool, plus a three-year order-of-conditions extension for Mike Shunta.
