Mansfield Adopts Policy on Law Enforcement on Campus
School Committee · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Mansfield School Committee adopts new policy on police and ICE contact at schools. The board voted 5-0 to approve policy ACL and ACL-R, implementing the state's Protect Act, signed by Gov. Maura Healey in August, which sets rules for how staff respond when immigration or other law enforcement officers seek campus access.
Members also approved a revised medication policy, accepted a $1,035,417 IDEA grant and a $33,500 health services grant, and cleared a marching band trip to MetLife Stadium costing about $330 per student. During public comment, longtime PA announcer Tom Farrie asked the board to consider naming Alumni Field for 40-year coach Mike Redding, "not a question of if... but when." A first-read advertising policy, aimed at the scoreboard, would need a second vote and a Fall Town Meeting article to launch.
