Board Presses Landlords, Businesses on Violations

Board of Health · Meeting of September 10, 2026

Mansfield health board presses two landlords and cites two businesses over repeat violations. The Board of Health raised Honey Dew Donuts' food-safety risk category from two to three inspections a year after owner Steve Prevaza's shop failed a repeat hand-sink violation, while Dollar General district manager Carla blamed dented canned goods on an undertrained remodel crew. At 12 Pratt Street, an owner who missed a required 30-day check-in got one week to document repair progress, with board members noting they've previously fined an unresponsive landlord "fifty dollars a day." A West Village Apartments owner citing a vague 2027 repair timeline for a broken call box must return in October with vendor quotes.

The board also voted unanimously to appoint the regional MHOA coalition as the town's tobacco compliance agent through August 31, 2027, and heard that a school flu clinic set a record with 93 shots administered.
