Select Board · Meeting of September 2, 2026

Mansfield Select Board launches health insurance redesign process and ratifies DPW union deal. Town Manager Mallory got unanimous authorization to engage the statutory process under Chapter 32B, Sections 21-23, with a September 9 meeting to decide between that track and Section 19 "coalition bargaining." The board ratified a one-year AFSCME Local 1702 DPW Unit B contract carrying a 1 percent raise and new-hire health contributions of 60/40 HMO and 50/50 PPO, versus 70/30 for current staff. It also appointed 17 residents to a new Insurance Advisory Committee and approved $4,193,477.47 in town vendor warrants.

Mallory previewed a November 12 Special Town Meeting warrant seeking $18,442 to fund the library at its required 2.5 percent threshold, plus a trash-fee lien authority and a late-payment demand fee increase from $5 toward the state's $30 cap. The board also appointed Jeff Paten to the Conservation Commission and approved a family-owned liquor license transfer at Town News.
