Mansfield Select Board votes to pursue $100,000 comprehensive master plan update

MANSFIELD — October 10, 2018 — Mansfield Select Board backs $100,000 master plan and airport BYOB permit at October 10 meeting. The board voted 5-0 to co-sponsor a warrant article placing a $100,000 comprehensive master plan update before the November 13 special town meeting, the first such update since 2008. Town Planner Sean Burke told the board the Commonwealth recommends a 10-year update cycle and that an outdated plan costs the town grant points, adding that master plans "typically cost twice this much." The board also approved a bring-your-own-bottle permit for Hangar 12 at Mansfield Municipal Airport, co-owned by Michael Levinson, covering Friday and Saturday evenings from 5 to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., pending liquor liability coverage and TIPS certification. In a separate briefing, DPW Director Lee Cotter disclosed that the town has been paying 32 cents per transaction to its current parking app vendor — equivalent to roughly $20,000 a year — against an 11-cent rate available through a statewide procurement contract. Town Manager Kevin Dumas announced free cash certification of $3,513,696 for the general fund and $2,548,674 for the sewer enterprise fund, with allocation details to follow at the next meeting.
