Finance Committee approves May 5 minutes, reviews tight FY27 budget outlook.

Finance Committee · Meeting of May 21, 2026

MANSFIELD — Finance Committee approves May meeting minutes amid tight FY27 budget outlook. Chair Sara Walsh and members Scott Feely, Jack Cooney, and Greta Loukos reviewed April 2026 financials showing revenues at 96 percent of estimates; Town Manager Mallory Aronstein reported the Committee must find an additional $460,000 in cuts by July 1 or face layoffs. A Select Board decision to shift retiree health insurance from a 75/25 to 60/40 cost-sharing split for existing PPO plans effective July 1 has already yielded approximately $80,000 in savings.

Aronstein presented an FY28 budget process document emphasizing public communication, cable videos, and focus groups to build support for potential override measures; the Committee scheduled a Capital Improvement Plan meeting for July and summer Finance Committee meetings for June 18, July 16, and August 20.
